The Parents Support Group - who are we?

20th Apr 2016

The main aim of the PSG is to support, help and assist the principal and teachers of our primary school for the benefit of ALL the children.

Primarily, we are a fundraising group and this is achieved through organising and running various events throughout the school year.

In the past couple of years this has included a Charity Fashion show, Annual Coffee and craft evening, Girls’ Pamper night, Children's Elfridges Christmas shop, Children's Movie night, Jumping Clay Workshops and Fireside Quizzes.

Other fundraising methods include the clothing recycle bin (situated outside the school gates) and we can also sign up to the easy fundraising website, so if you shop online a donation will be sent to school funds at no extra cost to you. * please see full details below - easyfundraising.org.uk.

As a result of these events an example of some items the PSG have helped the school purchase are -

- Extra Ipads so each child in any class will have sole access to this facility

- Interactive maths resources

- The outdoor playground furniture

and helped to pay for the transport for the Children’s Christmas cinema trip.

During our fundraising we have also been able to support some local charities including - M.S. Cookstown, Epilepsy NI,

None of this would be possible without the generosity and kindness from parents, grandparents, wider family circle, friends and the local community.

Also we are thankful that we have been able to rely on the help and efforts from Mrs Bell, in particular, and Mr Wright and all the teaching staff, to work alongside the PSG in each of these events.

The PSG feel this work and support is essential and we hope it creates a feeling of ownership and community within Orritor School Family.

The PSG welcomes any new members or ideas for future events. Watch out on the newsletters and notes home for our next meeting and events!
