Primary 6 releasing butterflies.
13th Oct 2021
Primary 6 had great fun releasing their butterflies today. They have observed the growth of these butterflies over the last four and a half weeks. They arrived in school as larva less than 1cm in length and have gone through the life cycle of caterpillar, chrysalis and they finally hatched out as beautiful 'Painted Lady' butterflies earlier this week. We fed and looked after them for a few days in the classroom but decided that today was a good day to release them into the wild. The butterflies seemed reluctant to leave as they crawled over hands, jumpers and even faces and hair! We also took them to the outside area of Primary 1 to let Mrs Currie's class see them.
