P7 Kids' Court
P7 took part in Kids' Court on Thrusday 13th October. Kids' court is an initiative between schools and the PSNI whereby schools which are on main roads with speeding problems can work together to raise the awareness of the need to kill the speed. As part of the project, PSNI officers were at school today to catch people speeding in the 40mph zone. In total, they caught 8 offenders in the space of around an hour and a half. Some people were doing as much as 60mph in this zone. When caught, they were given the choice of coming into school to face the pupils as judges or taking the points and the fine. For anyone who opted to come to the pupils, they were grilled by our pupil judges, using pre-prepared quesitons, on why they were speeding and what could have gone wrong. For those who came in and complied, they left without the points and the fine. For thsoe who didn't, they left with both points and a fine. There is a concern regarding the speed outside of our school; let's keep highlighting the need to slow down. The PSNI have also highlighted concerns with people reversing out into the road at drop-off and pick-up times; they have asked you to reverse into all of the spaces instead.
Have a look at our poster for some photos of our day. Everyone involved had a great day and learned some valuable lessons!
Thank you.
