Orritor Primary School P7 Welcomes Michelle from Fast Fashion

24th Sep 2024

Today, Orritor Primary School’s P7 class had the pleasure of welcoming Michelle from Fast Fashion into our school. This visit was part of our ongoing collaboration with the Eco-Schools team and Junk Kouture, aimed at raising awareness about the significant issue of textile waste and exploring innovative ways to reimagine fashion and repurpose old items.

Michelle delivered an engaging and interactive workshop that captivated our young learners. The session focused on the importance of reusing, reimagining, and repairing old clothing instead of discarding them. The children were inspired to think creatively about how they can transform unwanted clothes into something new and exciting.

Our Eco-Schools team is committed to educating students about the environmental impact of textile waste. By partnering with Junk Kouture, we aim to highlight the staggering amount of textiles that end up in landfills and encourage sustainable practices among our students.

The workshop was a fantastic opportunity for our P7 students to learn about the environmental benefits of sustainable fashion. Michelle’s enthusiasm and expertise left a lasting impression, motivating the children to take action and make a positive difference in their community.

We are grateful to Michelle and the Fast Fashion team for their valuable contribution to our school’s eco-friendly initiatives. Together, we can make a significant impact by promoting the reuse and repurposing of clothing, ensuring that unwanted items never end up in the bin.

Stay tuned for more updates on our Eco-Schools projects and how our students are leading the way in sustainability!
