Evacuee Day
Our World Around Us topic has been based around life during World War Two. To make our topic memorable and to broaden the children's understanding of what life was like during World War Two, Primary Four and I decided that we would have an Evacuee Day.
On Tuesday, 19th April 2016, Primary 4, Mrs Lockhart and Mrs McGucken went back in a time Machine to September 1939! The children came dressed as an evacuee child during World War 2. We stepped into the role of a World War Two evacuee. We acted out scenes and conversation in role. During Hot Seating we reflected on the possible thoughts and feelings of a World War Two evacuee. We wrote letters from the viewpoint of an evacuee describing our thoughts and feelings of being evacuated to the country. We played war time games and sang war time songs. We all had a truly memorable day.
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank Parents, Grannys and Grandads for making such a big effort with all the costumes, they were amazing!
