Primary five worked collaboratively in groups to build a model of a boat that would allow Freddy the frog to travel across the river to his friends.This design and technology unit has really got children thinking about what it takes to be a manufacturer , why it is necessary to make a plan and try it out , testing it fairly and appreciating why the first attempt may not always be the most successful.Some of the boats were good at reducing air resistance in order to move swiftly through the water and were waterproof due to their design and suitability of materials.We have all appreciated that more streamlined shapes and care taken with proportion , especially with the sail, would have worked better.
