A busy week in Nursery...

18th Oct 2024

🎃 This week we have been taking the lead from the Nursery children and have been looking at pumpkins and spiders which the children have been very interested in. 🕷️

We have been especially focused on strengthening the muscles in our arms, hands and fingers. Here are some of the activities we have been getting up to...

- rolling pumpkins and spiders in the dough. Using citrus strainers and garlic press to add hair and details.
- using pipettes and mini funnels to fill our cauldrons.
- using tongs and clothes pegs to catch spiders and put them on their webs.
- sorting the spiders and looking at one to one correspondence. One spider per web!
- painting and drawing pumpkins from observation.
- looking at the art of Yayoi Kusama who uses polka dot pumpkins in her art work.
      - using our arm muscles and fingers to draw her pumpkins vertically on the board.
      - using our finger muscles to pick off dots stickers and stick them on our pumpkins and art work.
- using whisks, pump whisks and turkey basters to make spider potions in the water.
- exploring how the water moves when we whisk it.
- exploring what happens when we add food colouring to water.
- sorting leaves.
- retelling Room on the Broom with our Toniebox and puppets.
- building things like microphones, the Spurs Stadium, The Paw Patrol Lookout Tower and Spider city!
- having fun with our friends!

We talked through these photos today with the children and as one child said 'we have been so busy, it's great!' It is lovely to see how hard the children are working and we are so proud of them.

We can't wait to extend our pumpkin learning next week! 🎃
